Professor McBride taught Milton, Shakespeare, and critical theory. He led Beloit’s First-Year Initiative program for many years and taught a variety of interdisciplinary courses with both classicists and anthropologists. His interests in comparative discourse included research on Darwinian approaches to the study of literature.

Professor McBride has authored several books during his retirement, including Godawful Dreams, a fictional treatment of academic scandals. A complete reading of the novel was aired on Wisconsin Public Radio’s “Chapter A Day” show in 2016.

Among other books, Professor McBride has published a murder mystery set in Beloit, Wisconsin, and a social history of sexuality in the United States. More information on Professor McBride’s books can be found on his author’s page. He is also co-editor of the Marist College Mindset List.
